Recently, interest in testing for the coronavirus has increased. Over the past day, laboratories have processed about 10,800 antigen and PCR tests, which is about 1,500 more than last Friday.

However, according to experts, only a small part of those infected actually go for tests. Either they have no symptoms, or they are treated at home with a mild course of treatment without visiting a doctor. So, Covid has a lot more people than the statistics indicate.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in March 2020, more than 4.07 million cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the Czech Republic. This number does not include cases in which a person has been repeatedly infected. Suspected re-infections are nearly 322,000, with 1,212 on Friday.

So far, 40,951 people have died of coronavirus in the country. In the past seven days, there have been 43 victims, but data from recent days usually changes over upcoming updates. Although the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals has increased compared to last week, the number of patients hospitalized in serious condition has decreased. There are 22 of them, there were 30 a week ago.

6.89 million people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Czech Republic. More than 4.3 million people received the first booster dose, 231,000 got the second, and on Friday, more than 10,000 people came to health professionals to get the vaccine, up from 3,100 a week ago. The ministry and experts especially appeal to the elderly and seriously ill patients to re-vaccinate before the onset of autumn.
