Erik ten Hag explains team selection for Man United v Nottingham Forest

The manager told MUTV that he hopes to be able to bring in Sancho and Martial at some point as they build back to full fitness.

“This is the first step,” he said of the match attack. “They’re a competitive squad now making more strides. Hopefully we can get them today, but first it’s about winning the game.”

In a separate interview with Ludis Celum, he said: “We have a strong selection, a good team. I also think about practices, to get some players back, but not too much. I think it’s also good to have Jadonis Sancius Retri and Anthony Martial back.

“That’s good for the team and we need it for all the upcoming games. But the first focus is this game and we’ve reached the end. Especially in the first line, you need to rotate well, keep the squad fresh, as well as make tactical choices between games and games.”
