Going into the fourth-round tie against Royals, led by former Red Paul Ince, McShane believes the visitors have enough quality and experience in their side to cause United problems.
“I know a few of the players and I know they have a good mix of youth and experience,” he explained. “I know Shane Long very well from my time with the Irish team. He is always a threat, a skilled player, and has raw pace and power. The end can take. Andy Carroll, even a few.
“You have Tom Ince: [and] then you have children; [Tom] Holmes et al [Tom] McIntyre. I knew when I was there with Andy Yiado, I was there with the club. Some have really good players who can do anything on the day, and it won’t be a walk in the park at all. [for United].
“It will be difficult, as every game is a cup. So I think United will be ready, which I have no doubt. It will be a good game.”
