On the Holocaust Memorial Day, celebrated today, January 27, 2023, everyone should remember the millions of people killed in the Holocaust, under Nazi persecution, and in the genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Last week, both the United States and the United States under-14 joint hearings from Dr. Noemie Lopian, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, and Derek Niemann, the grandson of the SS president.
Noemie and Derek shared stories from their family histories and talked about the dangers of extremism, the importance of tolerance, and the ways in which everyone can raise awareness.
