Jonas Eidevall considers it a “privilege” to be Arsenal’s women’s manager, thinking about the union across teams, staff and supporters alike.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s opening game in the Continental League Cup against Aston Villa, Eidevall said: “When you think about working for a club that is supported by so many great people, it’s an amazing privilege. From the players to the staff to the fans – I think everyone can feel that togetherness connected to the club.
“That’s what’s important, when you feel the movement around the club now, because we’re moving in that direction together. We’re all enjoying it and feeling that way, it makes for good acts.”
Lotte Wubben Moy’s generosity at the weekend reflected that spirit. When the news broke on Sunday that our WSL match against Brighton had been postponed, Lotte started the tab in the New Moon Pub for the Gooners, who had already made their way down to Crawley.
“I think Lotte’s action is clear. It shows how empathetic she is. In a case where she is obviously so disappointed that I don’t play, she still has the emotional intelligence to think: “What about the fans who have already traveled here? Is there anything we can do to make their experience better?'”
“The gesture from Bethsan’s team of people and for her mum gave me goosebumps. They were, of course, so focused on the North London Derby game, but that didn’t stop them from spending time and energy to provide support to my colleague during a really tough time. It really makes me proud. I think it makes everyone associated with the club proud.”
