Bukayo Saka’s excellent displays in January saw him named in the Premier League Player of the Month award, with supporters encouraged to vote for their star player.

For the second month in a row, Bukayo was included in the six-man shortlist and is looking to follow in the footsteps of Martin Odegaard who won the November/December award.

Our striker has played in three league matches over the course of the month, and played a big part in our victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby, pushing down the right flank and shooting ferociously forcing Hugo Lloris to concede his goal before settling down. Odegaard made it 2-0.

He then netted a superb strike against Manchester United in the following match to take his tally to seven in 19 league games this term, with a number of assists only matching his own.

bukayo’s rivals for the award are Brighton & Hove Albion’s Solly March, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, who all scored three times in the month.

Brennan Johnson’s two goals and two assists in Nottingham Forest’s recent revival also saw him named, while magnificent displays at the back from Newcastle United defender Dan Burn and Brentford goalscorer David Raya also put them in contention.
