WHAT’S NEW IN THE SEMI-FINALS?
VAR has been in operation since the semi-final stage of this season’s Carabao Cup, having not been used in previous rounds.
This rule has been in place since the 2019/20 season due to VAR only being installed in the Premier League, providing consistency across all fixtures in previous competition rounds.
The ratio will be in both legs of the semi-final and will be in practice in the final as well.
Like VAR, extra time has been omitted from the Carabao Cup fixtures for the previous rounds, and will be replaced by the next four matches.
Previously, if the teams were tied at the end of the regular season, they would go straight to penalties, but if this is the case on aggregate at the end of the second legs of the semi-finals, or after 90 minutes in the final, extra. At half an hour we decided that the winner had been played. It will then be a shoot if the sides still cannot be separated.
